I just love how the birds turn their heads away,

when I don't put my makeup on. They are the first to say, what happened to you today?
Weather patterns and ugly me, they seem to be experts at. Way up in the tree today, I saw a new couple of turtle doves very cautiously and coyly making their way into each other's attention. They were so cute, pretending not to see each other. I was a good excuse for them to stop pretending that they didn't see each other. Why didn't Jayne do her makeup today, I wonder? How could she let Ben look at her dark circles? I cannot understand her. Any chance I get I am primping myself in the lakes and ponds. She seems allergic to the mirror. They can be very caustic about those things at times. Especially if they know that you are a bird lover. I didn't mind today. Emily had hidden my makeup bag and I was incapable of getting it together. Many things didn't go well today and the make up was the least of my worries.
They were closer to each other on the branches by the time I passed them. This was just a gossipers attempt at making a friend out of an acquaintance. I hope it works Ms Turtledove. It looked like it would.

It looks like Ms. Viney is gone from the courtyard for good. I, for one, am not too disappointed by this. She was entirely too forward with Mr. Tree, for my taste. She has been replaced by the beautiful and far less oportunistic posies. It was refreshing to see the self-reliant posies enjoying the sunlight and the shade without a bit of self agrandizement or publicity. They stand on their own laurels and would never think of using Mr. Tree as a means to a higher stead in life like Ms. Sweetpotato. I do miss the gossip of the hyacinths. They have such a short season. They would have had a field day discussing the daily antics of the sweetpotato girls.
I am still trying to figure out the routine of the posies. They don't seem to dance or sing, or put on shows or aires. They are boringly perfect.

Sparrow's Spring nest

Mr. and Mrs. Sparrow were caught, by me yesterday, shopping together for a new home. They flitted and flirted, just outside my window. Talking and discussing and lovingly disagreeing, if not arguing the benefits and the pitfalls of living at our house.
Mrs. Sparrow was very impressed with the 2 "ready made" nests hung outside our window. Mr. Sparrow hadn't even thought of them as "ready-made" nests. He used them for the provision of building materials for the private home that he had in mind in a surprise and hidden place. He doesn't like the openness, at all, of our porch. It's much too populated. When Mr. Sparrow gets it into his mind to give his sweet chicky a peck, he wants the freedom to do it without a bunch of younguns peeking over the nest to see what comes next.
Mrs. Sparrow was impressed that the porch was fully protected from hailstones. We all know what happened to a great many of last years' nests in that surprise hailstorm we had. Male birds seem to have a very short memory for storms. They have only one thing in mind in the nest building season... 03/09
